2-part workshop
Wednesdays: June 8 & 15, 7-8 pm
In honor and celebration of the Two Spirit Powwow, the CWC and SWRC are hosting a spoken-word writing workshop series. For Part 1 on June 8th, we will explore narrative poetry and flash memoir writing centered on LGBTQIA2S+ experiences intended to be performed in front of an audience. The workshop will focus on using narrative elements such as characterization, setting, point-of-view, imagery, rhyme, and rhythm to tell stories about history, identity, culture, and community.
Part 2 on June 15th will take the form of a "Two Spirit Open Mic Night." Participants from Part 1 of the workshop series and other members of the community are invited to share their spoken-word poetry and memoirs live at the CWC. Light refreshments will be provided.
NOTE: this workshop series was created in collaboration with the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake, Salt Lake Community College, and the SLCC Gender and Sexuality Student Resource Center.
